As the next issue is being prepared, we would like to highlight the Buckingham Journal of Education, which was launched last year under the editorship of Max Coates. A biannual open access journal, with each issue centring on a specific theme within education, it features an eclectic mix of views from experienced academics and education practitioners.
The inaugural issue (2020, 1(1)), focused on the notion of the curriculum, discussing its history, design, development, impact and social implications. One of the most widely read pieces was Barnaby Lenon’s informative history of the English secondary curriculum, which also examines and critiques the dichotomy between skills and knowledge so prevalent in recent debate on the topic.
